E39 interior led up grade
I have started to upgrade my interior lights to bright led's (smd) & I thought that I would do a little write up on it.
They are realy simple to do & the light from the led's is realy bright & clear, the pictures are not realy good, sorry
Firstly the pictures are onf removing the rear light & I did it with a nife to show that you dont need any special tools.
Pop the rear light from the top center using somthing flat, push in & push downwards.
Once out disconnect the small black wire, a small tug & its out.
There is 2 pins & if you push the & the back light board will lift up, if it doesnt lift it your self & slide to one side & it will come off.
There will be 2 black wires still attached to the light cluster, do not put or try to remove these lights as they are solderd on & you can easly work arround that.
As you can see the tube bulb has now been removed, I pulled the 2 metal bulb holders to geather so the new holder can go in & not fall back out as it is mm's smaller.
I get the led board, connect the tube connector & place the board in side the light cluster.
One this is done I put the new tube connector back in the holder, this time it would be good to test the light to see if it works. If it doesnt work & all the other interior lights are on, reomve the tube & turn it arround then recheck & it will now work fine
This is normall as led's only work one way (++) (- -)
so if it is the wrong way it would be (+-) (-+) this doesnt do any harm but it just wont work.
Put the light board back in place & remember this slides in one side first.
Tuck the wire inside the cluster & push down so the 2 clip lock in postion.
Now it is nice & secure it is ready to go back in.
push the wire in the light unit, put it in to postion ( bottom fist ) make shore it is in from the bottom & them push the top in & your done.
Now sit back & enjoy the difference, just the rest to do now.
This took me arround 5 mins to do.
& I did the same to the rest of the lights, I have got some pictures below of the difference between the lights.
Also the lower door lights have been done & that is the best, when you open the door at night it lights all the floor up.
I will do a little write up later on on this.

I thought that people would love these LED's, I sell these LED boards. I have just got my shipment through on friday & I needed to put them in my to show off.
I got my samples months ago & the response I got was mental. So I have become a supplier.
I will be ace cafe showing of my bright car.
Let me know which lights you would like to do & I will come back to you on a price.
