MY MOTIV BMW

For BMW owners and enthusiasts

You must think I am mad but here goes again.
I have tried another product of ours on my car, it is a thin stip of LED's & you can have it as long or short as you want.

I had an idea ??? "I wonder what this would look like under the door of the car?"

So I have done a quick write up of how I did it.

Firstly I poped out the lower door light out of the door card very easly with my finger.

I pulled the wire away from the light & it pops out easly & then removed the bulb

Next the 2 drain plugs under the door were removed, they poped out very easly

Next the bottom of the door car was pulled forward, this is very easly done buy putting fingers in the hole where the light goes with the other hand hold the door, now give it a tug.
one pulled forward hold it & pull the wire in behind the the door card.

Then I made a small hole in the plastic just above the 2nd drain plug & pushed the wire through that & put another finger in the second drain hole, locate the wire & pull it through.

Next I cut the lenth of LED strip I needed & the best thing was that the other side of the strip there was 2 wires with the ends where solderd already.

This was a advantage the soldered ends fit dirrectly in to the orignal wire connector so no messing about.

Make shore when you connect the wires you switch on the interior lights to see if the LED strip lights up, if it does'nt switch the wires the other way arround.
LED;s only work one way arround ( + + ) & ( - - ) so if it is the wrong way arround ( + - ) & ( - + ) it will not work, this will not do any harm just not work.

Next I taped up the connection where the wires & connector joined.
On the back of the strip it is double sided so I removed the back & cleaned the bottom of the door & stuck it where I wanted it & pushed the door card back on.

Then I put the blank light back in to the hole in the door card just in case I wanted to change it to the LED board or something else.
Also I have left off the drain plugs that I will put back later.

Now its done enjoy, let me know what you think.

Lets face it...it wont win a beauty competition but is more illuminating than the original festoon...
Best of both worlds may have been to trim it down and fit it inside the original light lens

Hi guys

This is just nother alternative, if you look I have another topic with LED board lights check them ones out.

There are aftermarket LED bulbs that fit the original holder which serve nearly the same purpose as they are brighter and to be honest look neater than either this method or the LED boards which are stuck onto the original lens cover.

I no they dont look orignal & I have these replacement type LED's which you can pic up cheaply & from nearly any where but they are not bright enough for me.

I will do a little write on the replacement type soon & the same goes for the number plate bulb to.

As much as I can get ;-)

It is like daylight under the door area @ night

I have just changed the number plate lights with a simple LED buld swap, that along with the halo upgrade to very white, which has made a big difference, but had to cough up £10 a bulb for the number plate ones.(yes I am tight) Looks much better at night, (sourced from autostyle), what price are the led bulbs from bespoke division?
Cheers
