Get a small thin flat headed screw driver and while pressing the eject button try to gentley help the tape out with the screw driver... dont force it too much as it might damage the deck. I used to have a 540i e39 and had the same problem. Does yours have a cd changer???

hello again, thanks for info Tas tried screwdriver & even took radio/facear off for more access but no good, how do I get tape player out of dash so I can remove the problem tape ? any ideas, thanks in advance. Mick

Reason I ask is because you can throw out the changer and add an ipod unit which you can control from your steering wheel.. the company name is called Dension if I remember.

Im not sure mate... I think you will need to take it to a car stereo shop otherwise you may end up doing some damage. I dont want to ill advise you.

No its easy. go to the OBC and pull the rubber button off, under the button there is a small hole for i believe a star drive this operates a cam to release the OBC once this is pulled out the two screws for the cassette are visible.

OBC (On Board Computer) the one marked by the white rectangle, the rubber button you pull off is the one circled in red.
